Pete the Cat FREEBIE Ten Frames

Everyone loves the adorable blue kitty, Pete the Cat. Who wouldn’t… he is so carefree and so cool and so groovy, too!  When I know my students love something (in this case Pete), I take full on advantage of it.Since we are in the throws of adding and subtracting, Pete is going to get used to the bone to help teach and practice adding and subtracting fluently within 5.(Ding, ding, ding!  You are correct… that is a Kindergarten Common Core Standard!)If you are from a typical kindergarten classroom, you have probably always introduced adding and subtracting in previous years, but never expected fluency with math facts… that is, until now!I’ve made some workmats with Pete the Cat to work on adding and subtracting fluently using buttons as manipulatives.I am going to use Pete losing his buttons for subtraction and Pete finding his buttons for addition.Groovy, huh?The only thing I think that Pete might find a bit disturbing about this whole thing is that I am going to have to add a button to his jacket so we are in the proper parameters of 0-5 (there are only 4 buttons on his jacket in the actual book).Do you think Pete will care??? Goodness, no… he’ll just keep walking along, singing his song, I am sure.Come on over to grab my FREE 10 frame, 5 frame and double ten frames to use with all of those extra buttons you have lying around your classroom…
